Greetings from the 2017 Japan Endovascular Treatment Conference (JET 2017)
Over three days from Friday 17 February 2017 to Sunday 19 February 2017, JET 2017 will be held at Garden City Shinagawa, which was also the site of JET 2012. Garden City Shinagawa is located in front of JR and Keikyu Shinagawa station, and is a most convenient location for visitors coming by road, rail, or air.
Thanks to the efforts of many people, JET has become the largest conference on peripheral vascular intervention in Japan and the number of participants has increased to more than 2,000 in recent years. Many experts, including cardiovascular physicians, vascular surgeons, radiologists, plastic surgeons, and cerebrovascular specialists, will discuss issues comprehensively at the conference, and co-medical activities will also be available. Numerous experts from overseas have also participated in the previous conferences. In particular, the number of participants from Asian countries has been increasing. We want to maintain these trends from past conferences at JET 2017.
Many new devices are being developed for peripheral vascular intervention, and a debulking device and a drug-eluting balloon may be approved in 2017. In particular, stenting has been widely used for the superficial femoral artery (SFA), but a paradigm shift to treatment following the concept of “leave nothing behind” may be occurring. If a stent graft for the SFA is approved, the use of stents should be discussed. In fact, there are so many issues to be discussed, especially the indications for intervention. It is important to use limited medical resources effectively, and this is also required in the peripheral vascular field, so intervention should only be performed when appropriate. Cost-effective treatment will become increasingly important in the future and we want to discuss this issue with all of the participants.
The live demonstration venue at JET 2017 will be linked to the following three sites by relay: Sendai Kousei Hospital, Tokeidai Memorial Hospital, and Saiseikai Yokohama-shi Tobu Hospital. We will be showing some very interesting cases and state-of-the-art treatment techniques. The program committee has already been set up and the committee members have been meeting every month in an effort to create the best possible program for JET 2017. We will do our best to meet your expectations. In addition, the importance of the role of co-medical staff in endovascular treatment is increasing. Accordingly, a co-medical committee has also been set up to create a stimulating program for co-medical staff.
Finally, we would appreciate it if you could participate in JET 2017 as a member of JET. JET is not a formal academic society, but we want to develop a study group with all of the Conference participants. JET members will receive a considerable discount on the fees for JET conferences. We would be very grateful if you could join JET.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo in February 2017, where preparations for the Olympics will already be a big theme. We would highly appreciate it if you and your colleagues can participate in the JET conference with us.
